For one simple reason, buy eye it can be difficult to actually tell what you're looking at beyond 1/50" (at least for me anyway) without magnification. Therefore you don't need high precision on spacing this large. I never have understood why they (or any other quality precision tool co) put venire quality into a slide rule, you simple don't need it.
